techJOYnT Academy Now Enrolling STEM Summer Camps for Robotics, Game Design, and App Development(April 30, 2014)
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (PRWEB) April 30, 2014
techJoYnT Academy summer classes will be held the months of June and July. Each class will be held for four hours per day, four days per week, for a total of sixteen contact hours. To enroll for one of these engaging classes, come by techJOYnT Academy located in Rockwell Plaza in North Oklahoma City.
Research shows that the longer a student participates in sports, social reasoning - sacrificing for the good of the team - rises, while their moral reasoning skills - doing what is fair, just and noble - declines. Academies like techJOYnT help students find the balance by focusing on five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
TechJOYnT academy students learn to understand how those values play out during practice and competition. Coaches are taught how to intentionally define, model, shape and reinforce those values through mentoring during practice and competition. Parents learn how their behavior is key to supporting their STEM athletes.
At techJOYnT, we believe that summer break is the perfect time to introduce a new subject to a student - especially something as engaging as Robotics. We supply a wealth of knowledge during our 4-day intensive camp that keeps students minds active and continuously learning, says Bryan Sekine, techJOYnT instructor.
Here is a brief summary of the subjects:
LEGO Robotics - Students will design, build, and program their own LEGO Mindstorm robot to complete objective on a game board. Participants may also sign up and join a team for the FIRST LEGO League competition.
2D Game Design - Students will learn how to design, animate, program, and test their own video games. Participants may also sign up and join a team for the Game Design Summit.
Digital Graphic Arts - Students will learn the basics of graphic design, concept sketching, color theory, and illustration using Photoshop.
Character Design - Students will learn about concept art, brainstorming, silhouettes, design principles, and illustration techniques to create their own custom character. Each character will have a color pallet, a pose sheet, and a full color render of the finished design.
Autonomous Robotics - Students will have the rare opportunity to learn how to program a NAO robot to move, react, sense, and respond autonomously.
techJOYnT delivers curriculum to reinforce traditional Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education through 21st century GEAR (Game Design, Electronics, App Development, and Robotics). The organization offers families, students, and mentors the opportunity to learn engineering and entrepreneurship concepts through hands-on robotics and game design projects. Programs are offered at local libraries, community centers, public and private schools, and at techJOYnT Academys location.
