'We Can be Heroes at the Petersen' Family Fun Day on December 14

Los Angeles, Calif., Dec. 9, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- "We can be Heroes at the Petersen," an entire
day of family fun on Dec. 14, will kick off a new exhibit at the
Petersen featuring Kia vehicles inspired by the Super Heroes of DC
Entertainment's The Justice League. To honor
local heroes, all active duty police and firemen will receive free
admission (for one) and as always, active duty military will
receive free entrance as well. Free admission will also be granted
to all adults and children who dress up as their favorite hero for
the day.

"Local heroes are the backbone of our community
and unfortunately don't always receive the thanks they deserve,"
said Terry Karges, executive director of the Petersen. "We want to
not only recognize our own local heroes, but to also host a day of
activities for families to participate in together. Honor your
favorite hero by dressing up as them, visit the museum for free and
come have some fun."

The new exhibit coming to the Petersen from Dec.
14, 2013 - May 14, 2014 will feature custom-built Kia vehicles
inspired by members of The Justice League, including:
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman
and Cyborg.
The seven-vehicle collection, which includes a
customized Kia Optima, Optima Hybrid, Soul, Forte Koup, Forte5, Rio
5-door and Sportage, was commissioned in support of DC
Entertainment's We Can Be Heroes giving campaign dedicated
to fighting hunger in the Horn of Africa.

In honor of Heroes Day, the Los Angeles Fire
Department will have a fire engine at the museum to collect toys
for its "Spark of Love" Holiday Toy Program, and children will have
the opportunity to explore the fire engine. The Los Angeles Police
Department will also be on site collecting toys for "Motor For
Toys."

Community take the time to recognize the true heroes that serve our
City each and every day. Police officers, firefighters and the men
and women who serve in our military have commited their lives to
proceting and serving others. I think that spending a day with
family and friends at the Petersen Automotive Museum is a terrific
way to honor our heroes," said Chief Charlie Beck.

From 11:00a.m to 3:00p.m the 3rd
floor Discovery Center will host crafts, face painting, games,
storytelling and prizes free for the whole family (included with
museum admission). For those wanting to celebrate the holidays
without a cliché mall photo, photos with Santa Claus in a 1956
Chevrolet Bel Air convertible will be offered in the Petersen's
lobby.

The Petersen Automotive Museum
Foundation
is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity.  The
Museum is located at 6060 Wilshire Boulevard (at Fairfax) in Los
Angeles, California 90036.  Admission prices are $15 for
general admission adults, $10 for seniors, $10 for students with
ID, $5 for children ages 3 to 12. Museum members, active military
with ID and children under three are admitted free. Vault tours are
available for an additional $14.50, and are offered on a
first-come, first-served basis. Parking is free for the first 30
minutes and $2.00 each additional 30 minutes. One hour validation
with purchase of $10 or more in the Museum Store or Johnny Rockets
