WASHINGTON, April 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder, the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Redskins alumni joined forces with Clark Construction Group, the Community Preservation and Development Corporation (CPDC) and KaBOOM! to build a playground for children in the CPDC Cedar Heights community in Southeast Washington, D.C. today.
The build kicked off at 8:30 a.m. this morning with a welcome party for more than 200 volunteers, including tight end Niles Paul and Redskins alumni Mark Rypien, Dion Foxx, Dan Ryzcek, Roy Jefferson, Bubba Tyer, Lonnie Perrin, Ken Jenkins and Mike Bragg. Alumni were instrumental in leading volunteer groups, as well as assembling the playground equipment.

"I want to thank everyone who is here today that helped to make this playground a reality for the children of the Cedar Heights community. The Redskins Charitable Foundation is proud to support the Play 60 program, which encourages all children to play 60 minutes a day. This playground will provide that important, safe and fun space for play," Dan Snyder said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. "It is wonderful to see the community come together to create this and we are proud that our Redskins team players, alumni, staff are here together with our partners to help make a difference in the lives of children.
