Tracy McGrady Retires After an Illustrious, Underrated NBA Career: SuperStarTickets.com

Arlington, VA (PRWEB) August 27, 2013

Tracy McGrady, or "T-Mac," for all the faithful McGrady fans announced his retirement today from the NBA. The 6'8, 7x NBA All-Star is perhaps best known for his tenure with the Houston Rockets where he played alongside Yao Ming. McGrady began his illustrious career with the Toronto Raptors, paired with Vince Carter in 1997. But the dawn of the "T-Mac" era began three years later when McGrady moved back to his hometown to play with the Orlando Magic. This is where McGrady truly shined, putting up astonishing stats that so few have ever been able to accomplish. While playing for the Magic in his first year, he managed to average 28.1 points per game. Followed by another incredible year in the 2002-2003 season with 32.1 points per game, 12 combined rebounds & assists, with 2.5 blocks per game. All this while playing with a lackluster cast of teammates on the Magics squad at the time, and only giving up on average of 2.6 turnovers with 40 minutes of play.

These are the type of stats you would expect to hear from a LeBron James, or Michael Jordan, but rarely will you hear McGrady's name come up in conversations about the all time greats. This was unfortunately during an era where cable television still ruled supreme, and where most households were just beginning to harness the internet as their primary source of news and entertainment. A time when if you didn't purchase NBA tickets to one of McGrady's games, you more than likely would never have heard of his excellence on the court.

Houston Rockets fans will always remember T-Mac as one of the greats, and have a lot to look forward to for the upcoming season with the rise of James Harden, Jeremy Lin, and Dwight Howard. Rockets fans can save on their Houston Rockets tickets at SuperStarTickets and for the upcoming 2013-2014 NBA season.

Tracy McGrady received widespread congratulations and support across the social media world from both former teammates, celebrities, and coaches. Kevin Durant tweeted, "Just watching you as a kid helped me get to where I am today! Good luck in the future."
