Spirit Quest Tours to Embark on the Path of the Magdalen with a Tour of Southern France in May 2013(February 24, 2013)
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) February 24, 2013
International pilgrimages and spiritual travel are growing in popularity, and Spirit Quest Tours will lead a ten-day trip to France in May that will explore many of the ancient mysteries involving Mary Magdalene, the Gypsies of Southern France, and the Black Madonnas.
The tour, called Path of the Magdalen, is scheduled for May 21st through 30th, with an optional extension to Paris through June 3, 2013.
This tour of Southern France is like no other, says Halle Eavelyn of Spirit Quest Tours. It will be co-led by Reverend Ayanna Mojica, an author, artist, spiritual teacher and healer.
Fittingly, the tour has been organized around a visit to the seaside village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer to participate in the Festival of the Gypsies.
Around 40 A.D. Mary Magdalene is believed to have arrived in the Languedoc region of France from Jerusalem in a boat carrying several others, including Sara, now the patron saint of the Gypsies. According to conflicting legends, Sara was either the daughter of Mary Magdalene and Jesus or the Egyptian servant of the two Marys, Mojica says.
The Festival of the Gypsies commemorates the arrival of Mary Magdalene and Sara, through a joyous celebration that concludes with carrying Saras relics down to touch the sea.
Prior to the festival, the tour will commence in Marseilles on May 21st where participants will embark on the journey, first to Ste Maximin-la-Ste. Baume. From there, Eavelyn says, its just a short distance to the ancient forest where the legendary grotto of Mary Magdalene lies embedded in the side of a mountain.
Legends indicate that Mary Magdalene lived in a remote cliff sanctuary during the last years of her life. Royals and nobles were said to have paid homage to her there. It is the spot where she was said to have ascended to Heaven accompanied by thirty angels. The surrounding forest and mountain terrain is not only beautiful, but spiritually powerful, says Mojica.
In devising this tour, it was our goal to provide an intimate, multi-sensory immersion into the sites and lore of the last years of one of the most significant women in history. We do that through art, history, ceremony and experiencing nature, Eavelyn says.
The itinerary includes visits to important museums, cathedrals and basilicas, as well as teachings on the life of Mary Magdalene.
Another mystery of the ancient church that will be explored during this spiritual tour will be the Black Madonnas. More than 500 black-faced Madonnas have been documented throughout Southern France. The tour will include visits to Black Madonnas that pre-date the Catholic Church and that carry immense historical significance that is not widely known.
The Madalen energies carry the currents of feminine power that have been nearly lost and that are experiencing a resurgence, Mojica stated.
Accommodations throughout the trip will include luxury hotels, quaint bed & breakfasts, and renting exclusive private houses. An optional extension to Paris with a cruise down the Seine extends the tour for an additional fee. Spiritual travel involves taking those who are on a quest for knowledge and growth to exotic and historic locations where we experience things together. The result is both spiritually up-lifting and life-changing, Eavelyn says.
