Sovereign sees rise in holidays to The Canary Islands in September(October 25, 2013)

The Canary Islands have continued to shine as they saw an increase in visitors this September, reiterating its credentials as a popular holiday hotspot in Europe. Data provided by Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (AENA) shows The Canaries welcomed 784,475 visitors for the month, an increase of nearly 5% in travellers compared to the same month last year.
In September, Tenerife saw an increase of 3.58% in visitors, while Gran Canaria and Lanzarote witnessed a growth of 8.69% and 7.6% in travellers respectively. Ricardo Fernandez de la Puente Armas, The Regional Vice-counsel of Tourism, expects this trend to continue through the winter season whilst highlighting the growing number of visitors from the UK.
