Smash5 Animation Studio Releases Tutorial Series Showing High End 2D Character Rigging and Animation Techniques in After Effects

Smash5 Studios, a Los Angeles based animation studio, releases a tutorial series illustrating some new and exciting 2D character rigging techniques that until recently have only been available on 3D characters. The series is designed and animated by Smash5 Studios Creative Director Sam Yousefian and can be seen on Smash5 Media's Youtube Channel.

I was so excited when I realized that we can rig our 2D characters with inverse kinematics in After Effects," said Yousefian, "Weve been improving on the rigs and adding facial controls and musculature. Lots of cool stuff.

The tutorials come with a video and a downloadable AE projects that contain fully rigged characters and step by step instructions for building them. 2D animated characters prepared in this way can be animated easily and intuitively. The rigs simplify the animation process and allow any animator, regardless of drawing ability to quickly produce high quality character animation.

The tutorials are being released on Smash5s YouTube channel, Smash5media, and are narrated by Jesus, the animated character in Smash5's web series "Hell Yeah. In each video, Jesus introduces a new character and shows his viewers how the character is rigged and animated.

These techniques are employed on all of Smash5medias webseries including "Hell Yeah" and the forthcoming series "Chicken Strips". Smash5 webseries can be seen on the Smash5 Media Youtube channel.
