Silverado Rallies the Community to Raise Funds for Snohomish Senior Center After a Temporary Ban Stops Card Game Fundraising Efforts(March 28, 2014)
Everett, WA (PRWEB) March 28, 2014
Dozens of local businesses and individuals rallied to donate more than 150 items for an auction fundraising event at Snohomish Senior Center this week. The March 25 event was held in response to a temporary gambling ban that put a stop to seniors' card games used as a fundraising effort.
The event raised more than $2,200 for use toward the purchase and installation of automatic doors. Silverado Memory Care Community in Everett organized the fundraiser on behalf of the nonprofit senior center.
"When we heard about the need for funds at Snohomish Senior Center, we wanted to help," shares Silverado Everett Administrator Letitia London. "Its in our nature to support the community in which we operate. In addition to enriching the lives of our residents, we are committed to enriching every life we touch whether a residents family member or our neighbors."
Thanks to generous individuals and businesses, including a veterinary office, a pizzeria and even the local Starbucks, a variety of donations made the event a success. Auction items included restaurant gift certificates, gift baskets, sporting event tickets, a hot air balloon ride and other goods and experiences.
Bob Dvorak, the Centers Executive Director, shares, "This is a great example of the community we live in, where helping hands are always offered and partnered together for worthy projects."
Due to the mudslide disaster in Snohomish County, the auctioneer also made a special call out toward the end of the evening to attendees who wished to donate funds to Darrington Senior Center, which was directly affected by the disaster.
For those who would still like to make a donation to either Snohomish or Darrington Senior Center, please contact Bob Dvorak at (360) 568-0934. All donations are tax deductible.
