Sell iPad 1 Devices to Us and Enjoy Latest App Versions, Says Gadget Panda(September 09, 2013)
(PRWEB UK) 9 September 2013
Gadget recycling firm Gadget Panda is calling on tech fans to sell iPad 1 devices via its website, so they get cash towards an upgrade and avoid missing out on the latest versions of popular apps.
The now-discontinued iPad 1 is only compatible with operating systems up to iOS 5.1.1 it is not compatible with iOS 6. (http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/)
This means owners of first-generation iPads will miss out on the latest versions (2.0) of Googles YouTube and Google Maps apps, as they require iOS version 6.0 or later. (http://www.apple.com/itunes/)
Both apps are amongst the most popular with UK iPad users, ranking in the top 20 free apps as of September 05, 2013, according to AppAnnie. (http://www.appannie.com/top/ipad/united-kingdom/overall/)
Googles latest version of Google Maps includes a new interface design specifically designed for the iPad, indoor maps with walking directions, and a new explore feature. The latest version of the YouTube app allows users to browse video playlists then play all videos.
The latest versions of Apples own iMovie, iPhoto and Cards apps also require iOS 6.0 or later. At the time of writing, iMovie stood as the UKs 10th most popular paid-for iPad app, whilst iPhoto stood at number 32.
Gadget Panda spokesman, Leonard Stumke, said: The first generation iPad will always be remembered fondly, as it set the standards for tablets to follow in future.
However, as popular apps like YouTube, Google Maps and iMovie leave iOS 5 behind, its starting to look like iPad 1 owners are missing out.
If this trend continues, even more apps could lock out first-generation iPads, simply because of operating system constraints.
Apple is rumoured to be readying its iPad model, the iPad 5, for release an autumn release date (http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/500382/20130821/ipad-5-release-date-specs-features-rumors.htm#.UhdYpT_KGdw).
With the iPad 5 rumoured for release later this year, now is the perfect time for owners to sell iPad 1 devices and put the money aside for when the latest model hits the stores, or, alternatively, upgrade to an iPad 2, 3 or 4.
Here, at Gadget Panda, we offer good prices for a whole range of Apple devices, including first generation iPads. We refurbish them and put them back on the market, keeping them away from landfill sites, he added.
As well as allowing users to sell iPad devices, Gadget Panda offers payment for Apple iPods and iPhones. The firm also recycles handheld games consoles, like the Nintendo 3DS, and BlackBerry, HTC and Samsung smartphone models.
