SAE Institute and the Grammy Awards: One Nominee, Two Winners, and Lots of Excitement
(February 06, 2013)
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 06, 2013
SAE Institute, one of the worlds first education programs to combine practical and theoretical curriculum in audio engineering, is experiencing - as well as contributing to - tremendous anticipation about this years Grammy Awards presentation on February 10.
Our Los Angeles school is a hub of Grammy-related activity, and everyone is excited about this years awards, says Bridget Gardiner, Director of SAE Institutes Los Angeles campus. Our audio engineering students in L.A. are fortunate to be right on the front lines of all of the action, and theyre very interested in the nominees in particular, a certain engineer whos up for Album of The Year, and who were all rooting for!
SAEs Los Angeles school has two Grammy winners on staff as audio engineering instructors: Johnnie Truesdale, who won a Grammy as engineer for the Best Bluegrass Album in 2010 (Steve Martins The Crow) and Joe McGrath, whos a five-time winner. His credits include a Grammy for engineering Green Days 21st Century Breakdown in 2009 as well as for albums by B.B. King, Keb Mo, and Taj Mahal.
This year, Doug Fenske an audio engineering supervisor at the school is nominated for his work on Frank Oceans release Channel Orange, which is up for Album of The Year honors. Fenske worked with producer Andre 3000 on Oceans track Pink Matter at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles.
We will be holding exclusive Grammy events all week around Los Angeles, says Gardiner. There will be a private red carpet viewing party for our students at Cat and Fiddle restaurant with sponsorship from PMI Audio Group and Audio-Technica; our own exclusive Grammy Awards after-party featuring performances from SAE student DJs and special guests; and the presentation of an Ultimate Grammy Experience prize to a deserving high school music student in L.A. The prize includes a limo ride to the Grammy awards show, an elegant dinner; and attendance at the Grammy Awards presentation in Hollywood.
All of these events aim to keep the Grammy dream alive for the next generation of engineers and producers, which will certainly include our recent and upcoming graduates.
