Rutgers University Womens Basketball Head Coach C. Vivian Stringer Honorary Chairperson for the 2013 Walk n Roll to benefit Childrens Specialized Hospital

Childrens Specialized Hospital is proud to announce the 7th annual Walk n' Roll, presented by Kohl's department stores, May 18, 2013 at Johnson Park in Piscataway, New Jersey. This event has welcomed thousands of supporters each year to enjoy a 1, 2.5 or 5 mile walk or roll around Johnson Park. Immediately following the walk supporters will enjoy the free Kohl's KidsAbilities Carnival where everyone can enjoy live music, games and prizes, food, and learn about special needs all for free. Children Specialized Hospital is the largest provider of pediatric rehabilitation services in the country. With 10 locations in New Jersey, the hospital serves more than 20,000 children each year, including those children affected by brain injury, spinal cord injury, premature birth, autism, developmental delays, and life-changing illnesses.
The Hospital is proud to announce C. Vivian Stringer, head coach of the Rutgers University womens basketball team, as the honorary chair person for the third year. Kim Hanemann from PSE&G was named chair person for a consecutive year.
Coach Stringer has special connection to Childrens Specialized Hospital and the families it serves, being the mother of two children who have been affected by serious health complications she can relate and truly has a passion for supporting children with special needs.
I am really honored to help Childrens Specialized Hospital. Being a mother of a child with special needs and having gone through a very tough recovery with my son, I know what its like for families with the same situations, said Stringer. I am proud to be part of this event to help the hospital, which is known as one of the best pediatric rehabilitation hospitals in the country.
Recently, representatives from top fundraising teams gathered to kick off this years fundraising efforts.
Jennifer Weil, a parent of a former Childrens Specialized Hospital patient Cooper, spoke about her success leading her team, Super Cooper as the top non-corporate fundraising team in 2012.
Were all very excited for this years Walk n Roll, said Kimberly Armenti, director of development, Childrens Specialized Hospital Foundation. With support and leadership from Coach Stringer, Kim Hanemann as chair, our entire event committee and dedicated team captains, we know this years fundraising efforts will enable Childrens Specialized to help many more children with special needs. We encourage everyone to gather a team, start fundraising and come out for what really is a truly special event.
Last years Walk n Roll drew in over 1,600 community members that were able to raise over $175,000. This year Childrens Specialized Hospital is expecting over 2,000 and hoping to raise $185,000 to support outpatient center expansion.
