Retail Development Booms in Oklahoma City Spurring Interest in Community(June 20, 2014)
Oklahoma City, Ok (PRWEB) June 20, 2014
The Memorial Road Corridor is experiencing a boom in retail and entertainment development, attracting more attention to Northwest Oklahoma City. Prudential Alliance Realty Oklahoma reports the area of Oklahoma City has a Cabelas store in the works, which is likely to bring a number of different shops, restaurants and entertainment venues to the area as well.
According to a recent report by Oklahoma City Fox affiliate KOKH, the store plans to bring a 80,000-square-foot space near the intersection of N. Western Avenue and John Kilpatrick Turnpike, slated to open in October 2015. The store plans to hire 180 full-time and part time employees to help further spur job growth in the region.
Cabelas is just the tip of the iceberg for retail development in the Memorial Road Corridor region, and were just beginning to see how much potential this area has, says Sheldon Detrick, chief executive officer of Prudential Alliance Realty. This is going to be absolutely huge for Oklahoma City and its neighboring suburbs. There will be more to do, more jobs, and the domino effect will continue for years.
Since the start of 2010, the population growth in Oklahoma City has been kicked into gear, with a population of nearly 600,000 reported in 2012, according to statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau. The increasing desire to live and develop in Oklahoma City go hand-in-hand, and rumors have been circulating for nearly a year that a massive mixed-use development would occupy the several acres of undeveloped land on the south side of Memorial.
Developments like the one with Cabelas is making Oklahoma City a more desirable place to live, and in the coming months, years, this is going to play a dramatic role in the growth of the housing market, Detrick continues. Its an exciting time to be in Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoman also reported that a 58,000-square-foot entertainment venue, which would include bowling, laser tag, games, eateries, an aerial ropes course and a full bar, is expected to take over 5.6 acres of land just northwest of W. Memorial Road and N. Western Avenue.
The Dallas-based Main Event is anticipated to open in 2015, which is already shaping up to be a banner year for Oklahoma City and its residents.
