Poptropica Unveils Comic Strip to be Distributed by GoComics From Universal Uclick(June 10, 2014)

Poptropica® announced today that its new comic strip, Poptropica, featuring the best-loved characters from the popular virtual world for kids, will now be distributed by GoComics, from Universal Uclick, home to many of the most popular comics and cartoons in the world.
The new Poptropica comic strip, debuting today at http://www.gocomics.com/poptropica, follows the hilarious adventures of two mismatched boys, Oliver and Jorge, who unexpectedly find themselves in a strange world of endless islands, each inhabited by its own unique residents. Frankensteins, dinosaurs, balloon animals, penguin pirates the boys come across anything and everything as they pop from island to island looking for a way to get back home.
GoComics.com from Universal Uclick is the web's largest catalog of syndicated newspaper strips and web comics, offering new, fresh and free content every day. Poptropica joins classic and iconic comics from GoComics.com, including PEANUTS; Calvin and Hobbes; Garfield; Ziggy; and Dilbert.

This new partnership with Universal uClick is an extension of the Poptropica brand experience. The Poptropica comics are written by Paul Gilligan and Kory Merritt. Gilligan has studied animation and illustration and worked in a variety of fields including advertising, editorial, character design, storyboarding and comics. His comic strip, Pooch Café, is syndicated in 250 newspapers worldwide by Universal Press, and was nominated in 2009 for best strip by the National Cartoonist Society. He resides in Toronto.
Merritt teaches K-6 art in Hammondsport, New York. He won the John Locher Memorial Award for Cartooning in 2007 and creates the online children's book "Lost Side Suburbia" for GoComics and Funbrain.
