Pikes Peak Library District Adds 18 of AWE's Computer Workstations for Children to its Libraries
(March 05, 2013)Chester, PA (PRWEB) March 05, 2013
AWE announced today that the Pikes Peak Library District in Colorado will be implementing 18 of its all-in-one computer solutions15 Early Literacy Station (Bilingual Spanish edition) and 3 AfterSchool Edge unitsinto its library system.
The Early Literacy Station (Bilingual Spanish edition) is an all-in-one computer system designed for children ages 2-8. It contains over 60 pre-loaded educational software programs that include a mix of Spanish-language, English-language, and bilingual activities. The AfterSchool Edge features content for ages 6-12. Both products offer children a safe, standalone computer that does not require an Internet connection to operate. The software content spans all curriculum areas: reading, math, science, social studies, writing, arts and music, and reference. Both products also feature a host of administrative features including timed sessions and usage tracking.
We have been using AWEs computer workstations for a while and they are very popular with children. They really help to keep kids coming back again and again to the library. We decided to acquire more of the computers, especially the Bilingual Spanish versions, to meet the demand for them among our diverse community of children, says Carolyn Coulter, Information Technology and Virtual Services Officer for the library. Parents routinely tell us that these computers are helping their children to learn.
Plus, adding AfterSchool Edge computers allows our older elementary school students to have a computer just for them. They can use the computers as homework aids and to work on their own creative projects, she adds.
AWEs flagship product, the Early Literacy Station, is found in over 35% of the public library systems across the United States. The Early Literacy Station is available in English, Bilingual Spanish, and Bilingual French editions. The AfterSchool Edge is currently available in English.
