Pete Rose To Speak At Church In Philadelphia

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) March 12, 2014

Pete Rose, Major League Baseballs all-time career hit leader, will return to Philadelphia and appear at Christs Church of the Valley on Sunday, March 30, 2014. Rose will appear live and be interviewed by Brian Jones, the churchs Senior Pastor, during each of the churchs three services that day: 9:00, 10:15 and 11:30AM.

This event is free and open to the public. Petes visit marks his return to the Philadelphia area, where in 1980 he helped lead the Phillies to their first ever World Series championship.

Rose is recognized as one of Major League Baseballs all-time greatest players. He holds the leagues records for most hits (4,256), games played (3,562) and at-bats (14,053).

In 1989, he was permanently banned from baseball (including the National Baseball Hall of Fame) as a result of allegations that he bet on baseball games (a violation of baseballs rules) while manager of the Cincinnati Reds. In 2004, Rose admitted these charges were true in his autobiography, My Prison Without Bars.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Roses banishment from the game as well as the 10th anniversary of his admission of guilt. Yet, while players who took performance-enhancing drugs have been welcomed back to the game, Pete still remains an outcast. As someone who preaches weekly about the need for second chances, Brian Jones believes that its time Pete was offered one.

Weve all made decisions we wish we could take back. When we make mistakes there are consequences for our actions. Pete Rose is somebody who has admitted his mistake, has come clean with what he did, and I truly believe his debt has been paid, said Jones. Its time for Major League Baseball to give Pete Rose a second chance.

Christs Church of the Valley is located at 1560 Yeager Rd, Royersford, PA 19468, in the northwest suburbs of Philadelphia. Known locally as The Movie Church (a nickname they picked up when they began meeting in a movie theater in 2000), the church hosts close to 1,800 people at its three services every Sunday morning.
