Out-of-the-Box Counting Games have been Released on Kids Activities Blog this Week to Get Children Counting the Natural Way

  (February 20, 2013)

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) February 20, 2013

Counting games are a great way to get children counting naturally. Numbers need to come naturally or early math skills will be harder to master.

Learning to count is more fun with counting activities for kids. A Barrel of Monkeys make a great counting game for preschoolers. Materials needed are a Barrel of Monkeys (or another set of animals), small stickers, and a pen. Write the numbers one to twelve on the stickers and stick them on the monkeys tummies. Once finished, many variations of the game can be played.

Some ideas include calling out numbers and letting the child choose the right monkey, putting the monkeys in sequence from lowest to highest or letting the child even count backwards. Rolling the dice and letting the child match the monkey with the number on the dice is another fun way. For a complete set of instructions and to get additional ways how to play, check out Kids Activities Blog.

Another fun counting game can be played by making cute DIY owls. The owl craft turns into a skip counting game once the last owl has been build upon the branch. The neatly lined up owls and their features such as the nose, eyes, wings, and the toes will serve as guides for skip counting. If the game calls for counting by twos, let the child count the eyes. If the game calls for counting by threes, let the child count the toes and so on.

The cute owls not only teach skip counting, but they make a great keepsake for the grandparents as well. Check out Kids Activities Blog to get the kids inspired to learn the natural way.
