Northeastern University Hosts Social Coach JT Tran for a Valentine's Day Meets Asian American Heritage Week Event Called "Tran-scending Racial Stereotypes"
(February 11, 2013)Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) February 11, 2013
Internationally acclaimed social coach, motivational speaker, author and ABCs of Attraction founder JT Tran has teamed up with Northeastern University students to help break the silence about the troubling effects of both external and internalized racial stereotypes among Asian Americans.
On Feb. 13, from 6 7:30 p.m., Tran will provide an exclusive keynote presentation: Tran-scending Racial Stereotypes in conjunction with Northeasterns Asian American Heritage Week, Feb. 11-14 with a romantic Valentine's Day twist.
I want them to first understand the challenges Asian American men (and women) face out in the real world, both professionally and romantically, explained Tran, who is passionate about using his own struggles with self-confidence and overcoming stereotypes to inspire his audience members. Tran is often recognized for his unique approach in encouraging students to rise above the obstacles they face as minorities and realize their true potential.
I will also present a holistic solution that will not only address specific skillsets, but also to tackle larger lifestyle issues, Tran added.
Trans highly-anticipated, award-winning presentation will be held at the McCleod Suites in the campus Curry Student Center, and is hosted by the Vietnamese Student Association and the Asian American Center. While not open to the general public, event organizers are expecting a great turnout for Trans presentation and hope that it will make a profound impact on Northeasterns student body overall.
The goal of the event is to bring focus to issues affecting the Asian-American community such as how negative stereotypes and low levels of confidence affect Asian males, said Danny Chen, one of the events organizers. We hope the audience will be able to learn from Trans discussion about his own hurdles and how he overcame them to get to where he is today. We want the audience to leave with a better understanding of social issues affecting Asian Americans while still having a good time.
In keeping with the events theme, Shattering Expectations, Tran will also utilize his celebrated system of tools and tips, as seen on ABC Nightline, NBC, LA Weekly, Harvard,Yale, and the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business to help participants learn the essentials of shattering barriers and recognizing, reclaiming and repairing deflated self-esteem and social skills. Students who attend Trans presentation will leave empowered with the notion that what was once considered setbacks are now stepping stones for success in life, business and relationships.
I am very honored to accept the invitation to speak at Northeastern University, Tran said. It gives me an opportunity to reach out to young people while they still can be molded and have the open mind needed to learn the essential skills needed to make them more successful in life, both in the arena of their professional lives, but also in the romantic lives. It also gives me the unique opportunity to interweave issues of not only dating and self-confidence, but also theories of psychology, gender roles, business and socioeconomics, as it apply to minorities and people of all backgrounds.
