Net bursting goal weekend sends football.co.uk into a frenzy say DSG

(PRWEB UK) 24 March 2014

Despite Chelsea thrashing Arsenal in a 6-0 goal blitz and Liverpool beating Cardiff in a nine goal thriller the weekend total of 42 goals was one short of the 5-6 Feb 2011 record. Despite this Football.co.uk smashed 2011 traffic levels say DSG with record numbers commenting on news and features or on the forums and social media. The weekend was a memorable one with not only a lot of goals but some memorable moments. Arsene Wenger would have been looking to celebrate his thousand games in charge of Arsenal but the 1000th game turns out to be one he would rather forget. In one of the worst days for Arsenal. their title ambitions are seriously in doubt after their humbling by Chelsea. Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney on the other hand scored a goal that has sparked debate and comparison with one scored by Beckham.

Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait had this to say "What an amazing weekend for the Premier League with goals of memorable quality from the likes of Rooney and Toure who also scored a hat-trick along with Suarez. I think the quality of the goals scored really sparked a lot of debate such as the comparisons with Rooney and Beckhams goals which for me is better than sheer quantity but as fans we celebrate and talk about goals and was translated into a great weekend for fans on football.co.uk."

Jason Hope, Content Manager of DSG believes that football.co.uk is the perfect venue for Premier League fans "We are extremely honoured to be one of the top venues for football fans to get news, live scores, stats as well as for the famous community which continues to grow. Its on weekends like 22-23 March 2014 that go down in history that remind us why the Premier League is the most entertaining in Europe. The forums were in meltdown over so many quality goals; it was amazing! With the World Cup approaching, it bodes well for England that many of the team are playing so well. Roy Hodgson will have a tough task selecting 23, let alone a starting 11."
