NU Hotel Brooklyn Celebrates the Opening of Barclays Center with Brooklyn Activities and Packages

  (October 03, 2012)

Brooklyn, N.Y. (PRWEB) October 03, 2012

Downtown Brooklyn is taking center stage this fall with the opening of Barclays Center and NU Hotel Brooklyn, a boutique hotel on the corner of Smith and Atlantic Streets, is also joining the lineup with new offerings of Brooklyn-centric activities and packages geared toward local residents.

The hotel is within walking distance to the arena and just two blocks away from the Court Street parking lot which offers shuttle bus service during games and events. NU Hotels focus, however, remains on all the local Brooklyn treasures, which it has always considered to be the core of its identity.

Our greatest strength has always been the neighborhood, said Javier Egipciaco, NU Hotel Brooklyns general manager. Running across the Brooklyn Bridge is my favorite thing to do in the morning and now every Tuesday I invite guests and locals to run with me. Its such a great way to experience the neighborhood and nothing compares to watching the sunrise over the city.

The 93-room boutique hotel is a member of HHMs Independent Collection, a portfolio of independent hotels that curate the standout neighborhoods in which they reside and offer authentic travel experiences. Since its 2008 opening, NU Hotel Brooklyn has offered neighborhood-inspired amenities, such as chocolate chip cookies affectionately known as Brookies, and mini-bar items like Brooklyn-made hard candies. Local art adorns the guestroom walls and hallways. Now, the hotel has added to these local offerings with the introduction of NU You Tuesdays and a new fleet of Brooklyn Cruiser bikes.

NU You Tuesdays a day dedicated to fitness each week begins early with a 6:30 a.m. 5K Brooklyn Bridge Run, led by the hotels general manager and head fitness guru. The run begins in the hotel lobby and circles at the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge. On Tuesday evenings, the regiment ends with a 6:30 p.m. fitness class called Arogium, led by the creator of the exercise, Renjit Varghese, based on yoga principles.

Another way the hotel invites guests to experience the neighborhood is by hitting the streets on Brooklyn Cruisers, bicycles made by the eponymous local company. In early September, the hotel introduced five new stylish commuter bicycles available for hotel guests to borrow free of charge. NU Hotel Brooklyn already had three bikes, but that was not enough to satisfy the demand!

Brooklyn, at its core, is all about its people and to that end the hotel is also offering two new packages targeted specifically toward local residents. Sleep It Off is a tongue-in-cheek package geared toward a New Yorker that may not live locally, but is out experiencing the neighborhood late very late. With Sleep It Off, guests receive overnight accommodations and two cans of Mercy, a hangover prevention beverage for $199.00 plus tax. The catch? The room is only available for purchase in person after midnight for the same day based on room availability.

NU Hotel Brooklyns The Babymoon package was created for future Brooklyn residents, or more specifically for their mommies and daddies. There are a lot more strollers on Smith Street than there were five years ago and NU Hotel Brooklyn is offering a staycation package for the parents to celebrate each other and the neighborhood before adding their own stroller to the traffic. The Babymoon package includes a prenatal massage, a mocktail for mom (created by Master Mixologist Milos Zica), a drink for dad at Misdemeanor and for the future Brooklynite, and a Made in Brooklyn onesie. Whether its peddling through the neighborhood, running across the bridge, celebrating late into the night or anticipating the welcoming of a new little one, NU Hotel Brooklyn is there to help and with just a bit of Brooklyn style.
