NHL Tickets Break Away on

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) April 10, 2014

March Madness is over but a furious final week in the NHL is fueling April playoff fires across the continent. Currently, several clubs are in the hunt for top dog in the West, with the Central Division holding one of the tightest contests in the league.

The (51-21-7) Colorado Avalanche are 7-1-2 in their past 10 games and have surged to within two points of the St. Louis Blues (52-20-7). St. Louis remains the front-runner despite faltering slightly in recent weeks. With just three games remaining on their schedule, the Blues control their destiny as the number one overall seed in the West.

But, with only 111 points in hand, they will have to improve their play in the final days after dropping three straight and four of their past six. Key to their success will be the play of goaltender Ryan Miller who the Blues received in a mid-season trade with the Buffalo Sabres. Miller is now 10-5 with the Blues and owns a .910 save percentage.

While Major League Baseball is leading todays top selling sports tickets, were seeing a dramatic increase in sales for NHL tickets, especially for the St. Louis Blues, Colorado Avalanche, Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins and other playoff contenders, said Marta Ault at online ticket marketplace

Thats why were proud to offer fans the most complete and continuously refreshed selection of tickets online, with a worry-free guarantee to protect their purchase, added Ault.

Also in contention in the Central division is the Chicago Blackhawks, one of only three teams with less than 20 regulation losses at (45-19-15). To stay competitive they will have to overcome two major injuries in recent weeks to stars Patrick Kane and Captain Jonathan Toews. Unfortunately for the team, both key players are expected to miss significant time.

The two teams fighting for the final playoff spot in the West are the Phoenix Coyotes, and the Dallas Stars. Just two points separate the teams with three games to go. The Coyotes have dropped five straight to fall out of the final wild-card position. The Stars will attempt to keep them out when the two play in their final game of the season on April 13.

The Stanley Cup playoffs start on April 16 and will last approximately two months, providing eager hockey fans with long awaited post-season drama. Sixteen of the 30 NHL teams make the playoffs, eight from each conference. The top three finishers of both divisions in each conference and their two wildcard teams make the playoffs, producing eight first round match-ups.

The 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs ended in historic fashion with three overtime finishes in the last six games. The series between the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks began on June 12 and lasted until June 24.

This was the first Stanley Cup Finals series between two Original Six teams since 1979, and the seventh since its first expansion in 1967. In game six of the finals, trailing the Bruins 21 with 76 seconds left in the third period, the Blackhawks scored two goals in 17 seconds to close the series 42.
