My Ticket In, a Houston, TX-Based Online Ticket Broker Announces 2013 Houston Rockets Tickets Available Soon(July 17, 2013)
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) July 17, 2013
One season has made a world of difference for the Houston Rockets, who have seen their fortunes change dramatically since the summer of 2012.
Heading into the 2012-2013 season, the Rockets were a young, talented group that lacked an established NBA star. Now, GM Daryl Morey and head coach Kevin McHale have two superstars to build their roster around.
The signing of free agent center Dwight Howard this month, coupled with the blockbuster trade for shooting guard James Harden last October, has Houston looking like a legitimate contender for an NBA title heading into the 2013 season.
According to My Ticket In managing partner Malcolm Robinson, he has already seen a dramatic increase in interest for Rockets tickets since rumors of Howards signing became official.
"Trading for Harden last season started a lot of buzz, and getting Dwight has made people even more excited," Robinson said. "I think people realize that this team could be really special and want to see it in person."
Houston won two NBA titles in the mid-90s with Hakeem Olajuwon manning the middle for the franchise, and fans hope Howard can help bring a championship back to the Space City.
"People in Texas love their sports, especially when their team is winning," Robinson said. "Howard and Harden give the Rockets a chance to win a lot of games in the next few years."
The move to acquire Howard automatically boosts Houston up the rankings in the Western Conference. Despite suffering through several injuries a season ago, Howard still averaged 17.1 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. Now even further removed from back surgery last summer, Howard should put up even bigger numbers in his first season with the Rockets.
Harden was an instant success in Houston, finishing fifth in the league in scoring at 25.9 points per game. He showed off a dazzling blend of skills, with the ability to get to the rim, shoot from deep and set up his teammates as well. Harden played in his first All-Star Game a season ago, and looks like he will become a fixture in that game for years to come.
Howard will pair with Omer Asik to form a devastating defensive combo down low for the Rockets. While Howard is exceptional at protecting the rim, Asik excels in team defense and is nearly as good of a rebounder as Howard.
Jeremy Lin was slower to adapt to his new team than either Harden or Asik, but he is still a core member of the roster going forward, and a fine playmaker at point guard. Chandler Parsons is one of the more versatile forwards in the NBA, with the ability to play both small and power forward for the Rockets. Hes a great shooter from three-point territory, and is a long, pesky defender on the outside as well.
The signing of Howard marked an eventful year for the franchise, and fans with Houston Rockets tickets have to appreciate the diligence that Morey showed in building this team largely from the ground up. The Rockets now have the firepower to challenge the Thunder, Spurs, Clippers and Grizzlies in the West, with Houstons third title now looking closer than it ever has.
