Laura Rathe Fine Art Announces Meredith Pardue : "This Cloud"

Houston, TX, March 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- In the upcoming exhibition “This Cloud”, Laura Rathe Fine Art will premiere the newest body of work by contemporary artist, Meredith Pardue, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 27th from 6-9pm at 2707 Colquitt Street. Inspired by the transparencies of water, the translucency of petals, and the opacities of foliage, Pardue continues to explore the range of visual possibilities and the various combinations of opposing visual elements--the transition of color as it morphs from warm to cool, from saturated to dull, from light to shadow.

"There is at least a single thread of continuity--sometimes more than that-- that is woven through not only the pieces in a single series such as those in 'This Cloud,' but through the various series that I have created over the years of my life. What does remain consistent for me throughout all of the work, however--the individual pieces as well as the series--is the element of singularity that is somehow compelled into existence for some reason or another. I consider this a microcosm-macrocosm type of relationship, but of course on a much smaller and more limited scale.”

About The Artist

From Austin, TX, Meredith Pardue is an contemporary, abstract artist with an M.F.A. from Parsons School of Design in New York and a B.F.A. from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Pardue has several corporate collectors that include J. Crew Corporate Headquarters, Genstar Capital, The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, Oceania Cruise Lines, Scott and White Children's Hospital, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her work has been exhibited worldwide and has been published in Architectural Digest, Dwell, New American Paintings, and Austin Monthly Home.
