John Riccitiello Welcomes New Technologies and New Audiences, in a New Era of Gaming(September 02, 2014)
San Francisco, USA (PRWEB) September 02, 2014
John Riccitiello, former CEO of EA, says: New technologies offer the possibility of a new era for games, a new generation of gamers and game companies.
Riccitiello, currently board director at Syntertainment and Unity technologies, shares his hopes and fears for the games industry in a new and exclusive interview with Video Games Intelligence.
The games industry stands-out for the way it continues to embrace, challenge and innovate around new mobile, tablet and cloud technologies.
Game developers and publishers continue to redefine business models and adapt to ever changing consumer demands as the gaming ecosystem shifts around them.
These shifts are unlikely to settle any time soon as says Riccitiello, referring to new technologies like VR and Smart TV.
On the later Riccitiello says: Developers are going to have to have to reinvent for that platform.
People arent going to be running up and touching their TV any time soon, he adds, highlighting the obstacles for developers making touch screen games for mobile technologies.
But Riccitiello shares the optimism of the wider games community in the belief that this challenge will be embraced and capitalised upon like the advent of smartphone technology before it.
New technologies represent the potential to reach a mass audience for game companies, he adds.
Developers must fully harness such technologies to create games that will be played, loved, and ultimately make money.
