Harrisburg Parking Improves Customer Experience, Under New Management(December 23, 2013)
SP+ Municipal Services to Manage City Parking Facilities;
Launches Website and Amenities to Assist Customers
CHICAGO, Dec. 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SP+ Municipal Services, an operating division of SP Plus Corporation (Nasdaq:SP), will assume management responsibility for the City of Harrisburg parking operations beginning Monday, Dec. 23. As a member of the "Harrisburg First" team, the Company will operate and manage the City's 1,250 on-street metered spaces, ten off-street garages and five surface lots.
Significant technological upgrades are planned to improve the customer experience. SP+ Municipal Services launched the new ParkHarrisburg.com website, providing customers access to facility rates, hours of operation and contact information. Over the next several months, the Company will install updated, on-street parking meters, automate parking facilities, implement QR code parking reminders and develop a mobile app to support Harrisburg parkers.
SP+ Municipal Services will be utilizing a combination of SP+ service lines to ensure that the Harrisburg parking facilities operate professionally and at peak performance. The Company's SP+ Facility Maintenance operating division will provide sweeping, power washing and snow removal. In addition, Click and Park®, the Company's proprietary online payment engine, will enable customers to purchase and pay for their parking in advance.
The ongoing involvement of people already familiar with Harrisburg parking operations will ensure a smooth transition. Nancy Keim, Associate Director of Parking for the Harrisburg Parking Authority, will be joining SP+ Municipal Services as a Senior Manager. Ms. Keim will oversee the day-to-day parking operations and act as the primary liaison to the City. She will report to Jon Kemp, the Company's Regional Manager for the City's parking operations.
