Greenberg Traurigs Global Gaming Group Adds Former GPI GC Laura McAllister Cox in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (PRWEB) January 02, 2014

Continuing its strategy of bolstering its top-tier practices with key players, the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has expanded its Global Gaming Practice Group with the addition of Laura McAllister Cox as shareholder in its Philadelphia office. McAllister Cox joins the firm from Gaming Partners International Corporation, where she served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Working with members of the firms Global Gaming and Corporate & Securities practices, McAllister Cox will focus her practice on gaming-related corporate, regulatory, licensing and product compliance matters, as well as other legal issues. While she will be based out of the Philadelphia office, McAllister Cox, a seasoned gaming professional, will enhance the firms long-time representation of gaming clients throughout the Northeastern United States.

McAllister Cox brings to the firm her 10 years of in-house experience with GPIC, a publicly traded company, and its multinational subsidiaries that manufactures and distributes casino table game supplies worldwide. There, she served as Chief Legal and Gaming Compliance Officer, Corporate Secretary and Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and was responsible for interaction with government regulatory bodies around the world on behalf of the company and its principals.

Prior to her time at GPIC, McAllister Cox was partner at a full-service law firm in Atlantic City, NJ, serving as a member of that firms casino law department representing casino operators, gaming manufacturers and distributors, and casino employees in all aspects of regulatory, licensing and litigation matters. She drafted the proposed New Jersey regulations for many new casino games and also developed and implemented a multi-jurisdictional licensing program offered to clients to provide a single source of legal and compliance representation throughout gaming jurisdictions worldwide. She further assisted in the firm's representation of the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands and testified before the Legislative Committee on Economic Development, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, addressing issues concerning proposed amendments to the Virgin Islands Casino and Resort Control Act of 1995.

McAllister Cox serves as General Counsel of the International Association of Gaming Advisors and served previously for nine years on the organizations board of trustees. She has previously served as a board member and Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Casino Law Section. In 2005, she was listed among the "Great Women of Gaming" by Casino Enterprise Management magazine.

We are thrilled to have Laura join our office said Michael Lehr, Managing Shareholder of Greenberg Traurigs Philadelphia office. Gaming in the northeastern sector of the country has a huge amount of momentum and having Laura geographically positioned easily to serve our clients will be highly beneficial. McAllister Cox joined on December 26, 2013.

Greenberg Traurigs Global Gaming Practice Group focuses not only on casino operations, but also address lotteries, pari-mutuel wagering, charitable gaming and Internet gaming, where permitted by law. Members of the group have varied backgrounds and are located throughout 30 of the firms offices, allowing them to assist gaming clients in this highly regulated industry across multiple jurisdictions. The groups focus includes the representation of manufacturers and suppliers, private equity firms and investment banks on gaming related matters.
