Gardens of the American Rose Center to Celebrate 40th Spring Bloom on Saturday, April 12(April 02, 2014)
Shreveport-Bossier, LA (PRWEB) April 02, 2014
The Gardens of the American Rose Center is celebrating 40 years of roses with the annual Spring Bloom event 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, April 12. The event will feature tours with rose experts, a free educational gardening seminar titled Its All About Flowers For Your Garden from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., and an Easter Egg Hunt for the children 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. A food truck will be available selling hot dogs, alligator, ice cream and more.
The Spring Bloom is an annual event dedicated to celebrating the beginning of spring and the blooming of the roses. The Gardens of the American Rose Center is the largest public garden in the United States devoted to roses, with more than 20,000 rose bushes spread throughout 118 acres.
We are predicting that this event will be bigger than ever before, said Jeff Ware, executive director of The Gardens of the American Rose Center. The aroma of the roses entices the nose, and the view of so many different colors is an incredible experience for the senses.
Its All About Flowers For Your Garden will be located in the visitors center from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Speakers for the seminar include Claude Graves, Brent Pemberton and Dr. Allen Owings.
Spring Bloom will also include the 14th annual Easter Egg Hunt with more than 1,500 hidden Easter Eggs for children ages 1-10. The areas are separated into sections by age group to ensure every child has the opportunity to discover an egg. Prizes will be awarded to the children that find the silver and gold eggs in each category. Children will also be able to play Easter-themed games, enjoy a bounce house, have their faces painted and take a photo with the Easter Bunny. Admission for the Easter Egg Hunt is $10 per car.
Outside food and drinks are allowed and picnics are encouraged.
If rained out, the Spring Bloom and Easter Egg Hunt will be rescheduled for 2-4:30 p.m., Sunday, April 13.
