Everest Academy Lemont Basketball Team in First Place(January 31, 2013)
Lemont, Illinois (PRWEB) January 31, 2013
Everest Academy of Lemont, new to the South Suburban Catholic Conference league in basketball this year, is currently in first place in their league. The growing school of academic excellence and character formation is now seeing the benefits of the increasing development of their basketball team.
The team, comprised of 13 players ranging from grades 5-8, has a win-loss record of 5 and 1. The team is comprised of 13 players from their Middle School. Participants include eighth graders James Beecher, Timmy Lawler, Angelo Mollo, and Brian Wroblewski of Lemont, and Joe Colarelli of Lockport; seventh graders David DeRoche, Vlad Polivka, and Jack Zabilka of Lemont, sixth grader Billy Lawler, fifth graders John Paul Lawler and Peyton Mollo of Lemont, and Nathan Yep of Homer Glen.
The head coach is Danny Lawler, 18, an alumnus of Everest Academy, and currently a senior at Benet Academy. Lawler says he is glad to give back to the school that taught me to serve others so well. Assistant coaches are Paddy Lawler, an alumnus of Everest, Michael Lawler, a student at Everest, Dr. Robert Lawler, and Mr. Mario Mollo. Organizers and Managers include Mr. Frank Zabilka and Mrs. Paula Lawler.
Coach Danny Lawler focuses the team on good sportsmanship and encouragement for one other, especially having the older students helping the younger students. This philosophy is part of Everests school mission to develop student leaders from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The younger players have an advantage of learning from the older players; from their good conduct, basketball skills and hard work ethic, claims Coach Danny Lawler, a former player with the Everest Knights. Teamwork, another important method used in all areas of education at Everest, drives the players to work hard to keep the ball moving during play.
We are proud of our basketball team at Everest Academy and would like to congratulate our boys on an exciting season thus far. The team has tremendous commitment and dedication in all practices and games, exclaimed Everest Chaplain Fr. Matthew Kaderabek, L.C., We pray this fun continues through the playoffs.
The Everest Knights next home basketball game is February 7 at 7pm. All are welcome to attend the game at Everest Academy on Bell Road in Lemont to cheer for this winning team.
