Creators of Ink Life Tour Reanimate Zombicon(February 08, 2013)
Ft Myers, Florida (PRWEB) February 08, 2013
In the great ZombiCon tradition, the ZombiFest Horror and Music Festival, will usher in a new era of horror and Halloween festivities, and will continue to transform downtown Ft. Myers into a haven for all things undead.
The one-night mega-event will include a transformation of Harborside into southwest Floridas largest indoor haunted house, which will be the entrance to Centennial Park. Once inside the park, there will be a performance by a huge national music headliner to be announced and four legendary surprise bands that have never played in the southwest Florida area. There will also be an array of vendors, zombie suspension shows, a Walking Dead look-alike contest, childrens games and costume contest, special effects make-up demonstrations, horror side shows, and much more.
We are extremely excited to bring Ft. Myers another stellar event in the Ink Life tradition of creating a larger-than-life festival , says Ragen St. Peter, Ink Life Tour Co-Founder and one of the ZombiFest creators. We plan on upping the ante even further by bringing in our largest and best stage and sound equipment, a million dollar production that is sure to push out enough power to even bring the undead back to life.
"The City and Harborside Event Center are excited to work with the founders of Ink Life Tour on their next success story 'ZombiFest'. They know how to operate safe, large and fun festivals which is just what we want for the Fort Myers River District." - Rose Bernal-Rundle, General Manager, Harborside Event Center
Pushing Daizies, the charity behind ZombiCon, did a great job raising life saving revenue, food and blood for organizations like the Harry Chapin Food Bank, Lee Memorial Blood Center, Renal Transplant and more. Last year alone over 5,000 pounds of food, 314 units of blood and 40 bone marrow donors were raised! ZombiFest will continue to work with Pushing Daizies to help raise these much needed resources, along with raising funds for the Summer Art Scholarship Program they began in 2012; at the same time continue to bring SW Florida the best events in Florida!
Ink Life Tattoo and Music Festival visits between eight and ten cities throughout the year, proving to be the largest festival of its kind. Building on the success of the event, in 2012 the tour came to Ft. Myers and will return again March 1st through 3rd , also at Harborside Event Center. The creators of the Ink Life are very familiar with running a successful event and plan on using their festival expertise to assure that the first ZombiFest will certainly exceed spectators expectations.
We want to build off of the continuing success of the Ink Life Tattoo and Music Festival and bring Ft. Myers a safe and fun event in a controlled environment, says St. Peter. Keeping the event within Harborside and Centennial Park will take the once outside street fest and contain it. thereby reducing the risk of possible damage to area businesses while still allowing spectators to enjoy a night of undead fun. Further, the City of Ft. Myers, local businesses, or taxpayers will not incur any cost in the events operation.
Tickets to ZombiFest will be $25 per person, which will include entrance to the mega-haunted house and admission to Centennial Park for the music acts and other undead shows and festivities.
