Children's Multimedia Character Education Program, Veracity Matters, Set to Launch on Indiegogo on June 4

Program aims to raise $25,000 in order to address costs of building the program and developing educational materials (May 28, 2014)

PRESTON, Md., May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Veracity Matters, a teacher-created character education program dedicated to emphasizing the importance of empathy, manners and character to young children, is set to launch an Indiegogo campaign on June 4. Parents and educators agree that many children are lacking character values essential in promoting a healthy learning environment. Veracity Matters is a 28-week program intended for children from Pre-Kindergarten to eighth grade and is geared toward teaching children the skills needed in order to become valuable team members and effective communicators. Veracity Matters can be used to replace or supplement the existing character education taught in schools.

Veracity Matters uses high-interest themes such as superheroes and pirates with a combination of music, animation, interactive lessons and team building activities, which focus on empathy, problem solving and communication skills. These are skills that colleges and employers weigh heavily on. This proactive approach enables parents and teachers to spend less time on discipline and more time building relationships, which creates a positive atmosphere more conducive to learning. These lessons are carefully crafted to build trust and confidence and give kids practical strategies for dealing with stress, anger and depression.

"As a teacher, I've noticed a steady decline in empathy, manners and problem solving skills in our society's children," says Bobbi Callis, creator of Veracity Matters. "While these values may not show up directly on standardized tests, they impact almost every aspect of home and school life. Veracity Matters is a program designed toward teaching children character in a fun and exciting way."

The complete Veracity Matters program will consist of seven four-week-long themes broken down into weekly units. Teachers can access the program online through a website and download lesson plans, videos and animations. In addition to the multimedia materials, teachers will be able to access posters, games, crafts, writing prompts and much more.

Individual teacher subscriptions will cost $99, while school-wide subscriptions will cost $2,999. However, those who pledge to the Indiegogo campaign may be entitled to early bird pricing depending on the amount pledged. A $30 pledge will secure a one-year classroom subscription while a pledge of $1,500 will entitle an entire school to have subscriptions for every educator.
