Champions League to prove that Man City are now at the top table of European Football

(PRWEB UK) 6 February 2014

Manchester City are relative Johnny come latelys to the European elite. Their oil-rich Emirati owners were able to buy the players required to move them from relative obscurity to Premier League winners in just a few seasons. The fact that City remain title contenders on four fronts in the 2013-14 season is testament to their new found ambitions. They now need to translate their often breathtaking Premier League form onto the stage where they have fluffed their lines in the past. DSG say there is new belief in the squad and a greater togetherness which has been translating into some truly special team performances against big domestic teams such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Spurs.

Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait had this to say: There is no bigger stage in club football than the Champions League and you havent really arrived until you have won it. Are Man City good enough? Yes, of course, but they do have a naive streak which has lost them games when it really matters, most recently against Chelsea in the Premier League. I do, however, believe that with a fit Sergio Aguero the team are world class and a match for anyone, but it looks like they will need to win without arguably their best player. Barcelona have not had things their own way in their own domestic league and the heavy aggregate defeat in the Champions League last year has certainly dispelled any aura of invincibility. That said, they do have one of the best players the world has ever seen in Messi. Man City beating Barcelona would be a coming of age moment that would eclipse their surprise away win against Bayern Munich and certainly leave no doubt as to their ambition and pedigree. We will be following the game live on and via our social channels, Facebook, Twitter and Google.

Jason Hope, Content Manager of DSG believes that this January will not be a let down like previous years. There is a Blue Moon Rising in Manchester that could certainly upset the current European elite with City arguably playing some of the best club football in the world. Just how good will depend on how they play against Barcelona over two legs of what will likely be football played at the highest level. With Aguero playing, you would think City would have a better chance, so if they are going to take the tie, they will have to do it the hard way. It will be unmissibale.
