Burger Lovers to Settle Twin Cities Burger Battle

Saint Paul (PRWEB) April 08, 2014

Twin Cities burger lovers will get their chance to crown the cities best burger at the first annual Twin Cities Burger Battle. Eleven restaurants (and counting) will vie for the top prizes awarded by attendees and judges on Saturday, May 17, at Mears Park in Lowertown, St. Paul.

Tickets are currently available and can be purchased at the Burger Battle's website. The $40 admission includes beer, access to all the restaurant tents and a token to vote for your favorite burger. Live music, games and other activities will take place at the event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is expected to draw 1,500 people.

This is the first event in the Twin Cities that brings together burger lovers in one place and gives them the opportunity to crown the top burger of their choice, said event organizer and St. Paul native Jim Buron.

Participating restaurants include 5-8 Club, The Bulldog Lowertown, The Nook, Victory 44, Lulus Market & Deli, Gold Nugget Tavern & Grill, The St. Paul Grill, Town Hall Tap, My Burger, Red Cow and Groveland Tap. Buron, who previously ran the New York City Wine and Food Festival among other notable events, hopes to recruit one more local restaurant to compete in the event.

Its a debate we all have with our friends, and were going to settle it outdoors enjoying some great food, great music and great local beer, Buron said.

The restaurant that earns the most tokens from attendees will be named Peoples Choice Winner. Additionally, a judging panel of local culinary chefs will crown the first ever Twin Cities Burger Battle Champion, based on a number of different categories.

Sponsors include Summit Brewing Co., KFAN, aimClear® Online Marketing Agency and Faces Mears Park. Buron said a variety of sponsorship opportunities remain available and those interested should contact him at info(at)jimburon(dot)com.

Proceeds will go toward The Sanneh Foundation, a nonprofit founded by another St. Paul native, former professional soccer player Tony Sanneh. This organization uses soccer to help provide life skills programs for at-risk children.
