Breezes Bahamas Makes a Rhythmic Connection

Nassau, Bahamas (PRWEB) February 05, 2014

A Philly Connection professional dance workshop was offered to local Bahamian dancers at Breezes Bahamas, which also served as the host hotel to U.S. dancers visiting Nassau performing at the Love That Child concert benefiting local causes. Concert co-producers, Karen Rawlings and Debbie Apalucci hosted the one-day professional dance workshop like those offered to young dancers and dance teachers in the U.S.

The award-winning dance faculty joining Apalucci and Rawlings included Dana Smith, a former Sixers dance team member and current Dream Team choreographer; Todd Munoz and Mighty Mouse (Justice Ross) co-directors of Beat Addikts hip-hop dance company and Lina McMenamin, artistic director of OPUS I&II contemporary dance company.

Local workshop dance participants - ranging in ages from 7 years to adults - were separated into beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes while master classes were held in Breezes ballroom and meeting rooms. Following the workshop session, dancers were invited to learn a production piece from the U.S. dancers of the Love That Child concert, sponsored by the Bank of Bahamas.

All proceeds from the Love That Child concert are donated to local orphanages, including the Ranfurly Home for Children, the Childrens Emergency Hostel and Elizabeth Estates. Costume Gallery of New Jersey donated over 60 costumes for local Bahamian production piece dancers who also modeled several costumes from Costume Gallerys 2014 catalogue.

One lucky dancer - 10-year old Justin Hudson - was awarded the New York City Dance Alliance scholarship to further his dance education with summer dance classes in the U.S.

"Were so proud to be part of such a great event, said Muna Issa, vice president of operations to SuperClubs - Breezes parent company. One that showcases and offers young people on the Island a chance to explore the art of dance while helping other children that are less fortunate!
