Avanquest Introduced Recommendations on CFG, MAX, and PRC Types of Software(March 03, 2013)
(PRWEB) March 03, 2013
File extension CFG, MAX, and PRC are associated with a variety of different file types one of which is a 3D image file type. Taking into account that 3D image files contain multi-dimension models and objects which are typically created with 3D imaging programs or Computer Aided Design applications, Avanquest recently published the recommendations on the main types of software to open such file extensions.
File extension CFG is a 3D image file that is created with Cal3D. This type of file is a configuration file which contains models components and other references which are saved in plain text format. CFG files also reference other files which are associated with the Cal3D character animation program.
File extension MAX is created with 3ds Max by Autodesk, which is a 3D modeling and rendering program used for creating professional graphics. MAX files contain 3D elements which are used for videos, TV programming, and digital games.
File extension PRC is a 3D image file that contains representations of products for the purpose of manufacturing. PRC stands for Product Representation Compact and is a file which is typically in a compressed format.
CFG, MAX, and PRC Software
For Windows or the Linux operating system, the most common way to open CFG files is by using Cal3D, which is an open source 3D viewing application available as an unpaid download on the SourceForge website. CFG files can also be opened using any text editing software application such as Notepad or WordPad for Windows, Apple TextEdit for Mac, or gEdit and Nano Editor for Linux.
File extension MAX and PRC are commonly opened using Adobe Acrobat XI, which is an application that is used to open and work with 3D image files and other file types. Acrobat XI is available as an unpaid trial on the Adobe website and is compatible with the Windows operating system and Mac OS X.
Other software applications that will open CFG, MAX, and PRC files include the following.
3ds Max: MAX files can be opened using 3ds Max 2013, which is a 3D modeling and rendering application used in the professional media design industry. 3ds Max is available as a paid download on the Autodesk website and is compatible with the Windows operating system.
AutoCAD: File extension PRC and MAX can be opened using AutoCAD, which is a 3D image rendering application available on the Autodesk website. AutoCAD is offered in a paid version and is compatible with the Windows operating system and Mac OS X.
TurboCAD: To open and work with PRC or MAX files, use TurboCAD which is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. For Windows, TurboCAD Deluxe 19 should be used and for Mac OS X, use TurboCAD Deluxe v6. Both applications are available in an unpaid trial version on the TurboCAD website.
ArchiCAD: ArchiCAD by GRAPHISOFT will allow opening and viewing the contents of file extension PRC, CFG, and MAX. ArchiCAD is an application that is used to create and share Building Information Modeling (BIM) designs.
ArchiCAD is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X and is available as a paid download on the GRAPHISOFT website.
These are a few of the software applications recommended by Avanquest to open CFG, MAX, and PRC files which are defined as a 3D image file type. In the file extension database Avanquest also recommends other software applications to open the files defined as another file type.
