ArtSchools.com, A Directory of Art Schools in California, Commends UK Artists for Piloting Projects To Assist Young Art Enthusiasts(December 13, 2013)
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) December 13, 2013
ArtSchools.com, an online directory of the best art schools in California, comments on an article published by the Financial Times on December 6th, which details how artists in the United Kingdom are attempting to keep their profession alive by funding projects to educate younger art enthusiasts.
According to the Financial Times article titled, Artist-run art schools, many contemporary artists are concerned for the future of budding art enthusiasts and have launched projects to help educate them. The article says, Chris Ofili, a top British contemporary painter, admitted that he might not have studied art if he had been born alongside the younger generation. This is mostly due to the fact that the UK cut most of the government sponsored funding for art-related classes in 2010.
In the article, Abigal Smith of the University of Arts London (UAL) says, For a specialist university like UAL, it means we have now virtually no teaching funding from the government.
In an effort to help young artists in need of financial assistance, Ryan Gander, another one of the UKs leading contemporary artists, is planning to open a residency for young artists in his home of Saxmundham in Suffolk, eastern England called Fairfield International. The article says residents will be given rooms based on their artistic talent and financial need.
Andrew Girard, a representative from ArtSchools.com, a directory showcasing art schools in California, agrees that more needs to be done to help young artists suffering from lack of funding. Society has placed art at the bottom of the list of educational priorities, he says. Helping young artists fulfill their dreams and expand their abilities is of the utmost importance. Governments all over the globe are cutting funding to art programs in schools, leaving many students unable to obtain financial assistance. Artists, like Ryan Gander, can really provide help to young artists so they can flourish. We hope more noteworthy artists follow in his footsteps.
