Apple iTV Could Sell iPad Down the River, Says Gadget Panda

(PRWEB UK) 24 April 2013

With rumours suggesting Apple could be set to release an iPad-like smart television, tech recycling firm Gadget Panda is asking whether the company could sell iPad owners short in the long run.

Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White said the 60-inch iTV will launch in the US in late 2013, according to the Huffington Post.*

In recent years, Apple has released devices like the iPad and iPhone at around the same time in the US and UK suggesting the iTVs launch could follow a similar model.

Experts from TechRadar predict Apples internet-enabled television will run apps like the iPad and use the same operating system.* White claims it will come with tablet-like mini iTVs, with the same-sized screens as Apples tablet.

Although the iPad is designed to be portable, most never leave the home, according to research conducted by McKinsey & Company,* and a business insider survey suggests more than 46% of iPad owners use the tablet as their primary computer.*

Leonard Stumke from Gadget Panda said: Apple made its name creating innovative products like the Mac, and building a high-end user base.

But its masterstroke was focussing its expertise on small, portable devices. With the release of the iPad and the iPhone, Apple put its state-of-the-art tech in the hands of the masses.

If the iTV rumours are true, it looks like its going to be another world-beater from Apple. On the surface, it seems like the next logical step for the company.

But whilst the iPhone has been a portable pal, research shows the iPad is most often used at home. Its possible that Apple could be treading on its own territory by creating tech thats tied to the living room.

The iTV would likely offer up similar content to the iPad, but with a huge screen, making watching watching films and playing games much more immersive.

Am I going to have to sell my iPad if the iTV rumours come true? Well have to wait and see.

Apple has made astonishingly few missteps in recent times, creating gizmos that are superficially similar, but offer experiences tightly tailored to the environment in which theyre used.

Itll be interesting to see if Apple can reinvent the TV, in the same way it reinvented the mobile phone and the personal computer.

Gadget Panda lets tech fans sell iPad models via its website in return for a quick cash payment. The gizmos are recycled, so they dont pile up as e-waste.

As well as Apple products like iPads, iPods and iPhones, Gadget Panda accepts Nintendo DS and Sony PSP consoles, smartphones from Blackberry, Nokia, HTC and Samsung, and a range of other gizmos.

After Gadget Panda receives a device, it typically pays cash within 48 hours.
