AAP PreK-12 Learning Group Announces the 2014 REVERE Award Finalists(May 09, 2014)

The PreK-12 Learning Group of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) is pleased to announce the 2014 REVERE Award finalists, which honor exemplary learning resources for both children and adults. Formerly known as the AEP Awards program, this annual event was established by the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) and continues a decades-long tradition of honoring excellence across all resources for preK-12 and adult learners, educators, and administrators. Hundreds of entries are submitted each year, which include print materials, digital learning tools, professional development curricula, and a wide range of periodicals, but only the top quarter become finalists. The entries are subject to a rigorous judging process consisting of three rounds of review by teachers and leading experts throughout the industry. Three key principles--quality content, age appropriateness, and innovation--drive the judging criteria and evaluation process.
Beyond the Classroom was created specifically for the wide range of resources used outside formal learning environments including books, test prep materials, toys, games, and more. This years finalists are: American Museum of Natural History, Emotional ABC's, Fingerprint, National Science Teachers Association, Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, and S.C.R.A.P. The Golden Lamps are the most prestigious awards in the program. For this competition, judges identify products that stand alone as exemplars within each of four categories, transcending media, audience, and subject matter. The 2014 Golden Lamp Finalists are: aha!Process, Inc., The American Museum of Natural History, DreamBox Learning, Explorelearning, Gibbs Smith Education, Learning A-Z, Math Solutions, NAEYC, National Wildlife Federation, Rainbow Concepts, Scholastic Inc., Teaching Channel, Youth Communication, and Zulama. In the Distinguished Achievement Awards, products compete against each other within a wide range of categories including grade levels, subjects, and entry types. The 2014 finalists are listed below and are organized by the four main categories: Periodicals, Professional Development, Supplemental Resources and Whole Curriculum Program.

All are invited to the REVERE Awards Gala on June 4, 2014, at the Capital Hilton at Washington, DC, where the winners will be announced. The gala will take place in conjunction with the Learning Groups Content in Context conference. Representatives from organizations named as finalists are strongly encouraged to reserve a table at the Gala so that employees can celebrate their achievements together, enjoy VIP seating close to the stage, and receive additional recognition for their company during the event.
